Black Country 50+ Programme

Ideal for All are proud to be one of 8 project partners working with our lead organisation Sandwell Consortia to deliver the Black Country 50+ programme.

The Black Country 50+ programme is a pilot programme that runs until end June 2022 funded by the Government’s Community Renewal Fund, through West Midlands Combined Authority and Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council. It will be evaluated independently to establish good practice and lessons to take this work forward beyond its existing funding streams.

Since starting in February 2022 each member organisation has deployed Navigators within our local communities in Sandwell to actively engage residents age 50+, understand their individual needs, develop action plans and support them on their journey towards employment.

Our community partners are: Sandwell Consortia, Bangladeshi Women’s Association, Brushstrokes, Confederation of Bangladeshi Organisations, Community Connect Foundation, ILEYs Community Association, Sandwell Work Enterprise and Development Agency, and Smethwick Youth & Community Centre.

Ideal for All provides peer support job clubs, tailored 1:1 sessions for disabled people, those with health conditions or people in need of support on their journey towards employment. Specialist support including help with learning how to job search, training to develop your CV and showcase your skills and talents alongside employment readiness support to help you on your way. Specialist support is tailored to meet the needs of those people aged 50+ and includes referral to dedicated welfare rights support for benefits checks and information, advice and guidance. Delivered as part of your support package we also have a range of community based groups and 1:1 job club both online and face to face sessions which support a combination of personalised peer support and work ready activities. These are delivered by people like you, with a lived experience of disability and focus on what matters most to you on your route to work, overcoming barriers together and helping you have your 'voice' heard as part of this pilot.

We are also excited to announce the Sandwell 50+ Hub! Find out more: ring Ben on 0121 533 2668 or email Ben  ben@sandwellconsortium.co.uk

The Hub is a small, friendly centre to help people, aged 50 or over, move closer to employment or make a career change. Our wider partnership team can help you find options to gain new skills and qualifications, write CVs and apply for jobs, get free welfare rights advice, help to go online and join creative activities. We offer one to one support and small group activities, and we can link you to our 50+ Navigators based in community centres around Sandwell.

The Hub is part of the Black Country 50+ Partnership with partners from Sandwell Council, Job Centre Plus, Sandwell College and Ageing Better – who will also have advisers based at the Hub.
