Spring and Summer 2020

24-Jun-2020

Our Building Better Opportunities Bridges team have been working hard supporting people throughout the current crisis. It has been wonderful to stay connected to our participants and we have enjoyed dropping off activity packs and planting kits to people’s homes safely.

“The BRIDGES team call me every week without fail to ask me if I am ok and if I have a problem, I can turn to them and feel safe and confident to have someone who cares. – that’s kindness to me.” (BRIDGES participant)

This has also been part of our recent support for the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) National Gardening Week at the end of April. Have a look on our facebook page to see what is happening on our community garden sites

For even more hints and tips on staying at home and learning to grow, check out the RHS ‘Grow at Home’ project.  (RHS 2020)

The Bridges team have also produced a newsletter as part of Mental Health Awareness week as this years theme is kindness. The spring and summer edition is packed full of hints and tips to stay well and support positive wellbeing during this time.

CEO Khatija Patel says, “Now more than ever we need to be kind to each other and the people in our neighbourhoods and wider communities. We are proud to support positive wellbeing and Mental Health awareness as part of this year’s campaign. Thank you to everyone for staying safe at home and continuing to work with our BRIDGES staff and supporting our charity at this time.”

The Building Better opportunities programme and BRIDGES project are funded by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund.
