Opening quotation mark image I was feeling depressed and low mood I wanted to do some volunteer work but I wanted it to be for an organisation that understood me and support me in my role. Due to my depression and anxiety I was very worried about this. Since volunteering for Ideal for All, with the hard of hearing support group, I feel I am doing something positive giving back to the community. Volunteering changed my life to feeling confident and increased my social skills and well being I feel better knowing I’m helping someone else.”

Opening quotation mark image I initially came to Ideal for All for sensory and mobility support. It has made a huge, massive change in my life, given me confidence, my own independence, own friends, social setting, able to go out, help others, giving back to community. Volunteering at Ideal for All and using all the different services has been a lifeline to me I don’t think I would be the same person I am today without the support from the team at Ideal for All.

Opening quotation mark image I was referred to Ideal for All by the job centre to get work experience and gain confidence, but I had suffered a mental health breakdown and was not in a good place. I had very low self-esteem and would not look at anyone no eye contact I was bullied at school and I just isolated myself ever since. Joining Ideal for All and becoming a volunteer and accessing confidence building course gave me a new life line a turning point and I have never looked back. It’s enabled me to meet new people like-minded people it stopped the isolation and I gained confidence in dealing with people. It’s encouraged me to have a positive outlook of life and I am now working part time.
