Job Title: Personal Assistant (PA)

Location: Milwich, Staffordshire ST18
Rate of Pay: £9.80 per hour

Nature of the job role:
To support a young lady who has Spina Bifida and mental health needs with a variety of tasks to live as independently as possible.

Main Duties: 

To provide a level of support on a one-one basis that encourages personal confidence advocating choice, allowing the employer to explore all suitable opportunities within the local/wider community. Promote as much independence with daily tasks as possible, support to attend hospital and GP appointments, prompt employer to order repeat prescriptions in a timely manner.

- Personal duties: Employer is able to carry out personal care independently, but some support may be needed with washing hair, employer will ask if further support is required. Employer uses a wheelchair and will need support when accessing the community.
- Domestic duties: Support with daily laundry as required, encouraging independence where appropriate, cat care and support with basic snacks/meal preparation and generally keeping the bungalow tidy.
- Social Duties: These duties can vary on a daily basis according to how the employer’s mental health is on the day, but generally involves supporting to access the local/wider community, going out for lunch, shopping and any other activities that the employer wishes to participate in, to promote her independence, confidence and boost self esteem.

Any other reasonable duties that may be necessary.

Hours of work:
12 hours per week (flexible)

Qualifications:
NVQ level 2/3 desirable.

Skills & Experience:
Previous experience working within a similar role would be advantageous. Confident administering medication with the ability to deliver a high level of support. Awareness of mental health issues and support employer to maintain general health and wellbeing. Outgoing with good sense of humour.
