Personal Assistant (OT)

Job Title: Personal Assistant

Job Ref: MH / OT / 10 / 19

Reporting to: Employer

Location: Whitmore Reans, Wolverhampton WV1

Rate of Pay: £9.50 per hour and £75.00 per night

Nature of the job role: To support an elderly Afro Caribbean lady living in Whitmore Reans, Wolverhampton who suffers with Diabetes, visually impaired following cataract surgery. Stroke has affected mobility as a result of stroke can also experience short term memory loss. Sometimes she takes time to process her thoughts and respond to questions, or in conversation since her stroke

Main Duties:

Personal duties:  Personal Care, she is able to make decisions about the clothes she wants to wear and should be encouraged to do so.
Requires support of 2 to manage with continence care as doubly incontinent
Requires to be hoisted/slide sheet to assist with transfers and 2-3 hourly pressure area care during the day and night. 
Prompts with medication
Support with meals for nutrition due to being a diabetic

Domestic duties: 
Meals and drinks to be prepared and made due to being immobile.
Ensure that diet is nutritious as she is a tablet controlled diabetic

Social Duties: Knowledge of Afro Caribbean culture
At times when she's up to it, discussing minute topical highlights of what's in the latest national and local news. Befriending... reading to her, singing with her sometimes.. Enjoying positive times spent with her, sprinkled with much laugher.

Hours of work:  8 hours per week 
2 hours in the morning 4 days per week negotiable
Some evenings for 30 minutes also negotiable
Plus nights to be discussed at interview

Moving and Handling
Experience in working with elders

Skills & Experience:
Someone who is friendly, patient and supportive.  You should have a genuine interest in the provision of high quality care and should possess the motivation to develop trust and understanding within the role. 
You should be hardworking, reliable, honest with a sense of humour and be committed to providing the best care.
