Job Ref: JI/LS/10/24

Reporting to: Employer

Location: Calf Heath WV10

Rate of Pay: £12.70 p/hr or negotiable for the self employed, must be discussed.

Nature of the job role: Day to Day care and support for a disabled single parent and child both with ADHD and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome - hypermobility (amongst many other comorbidities). Some personal care, childcare, social support mental health support, SEN support and domestic commitments.

Main Duties:

Personal duties: Support with getting up and ready in the mornings, including washing/bathing & dressing. Prompting for medication, personal care and self-care. Will involve taking over certain parts of the parental responsibility for the child’s personal care and SEN support during these responsibilities. May involve school runs at some point, however, this may not be in the immediate future (if at all), depending on the circumstances for the child, as it does change due to the SEN needs.

Domestic duties: Cooking vegan only meals due to milk protein intolerance for both people, general household duties and support- including any heavier lifting and other duties that are taxing physically (shopping, bed sheet changes, laundry etc), cleaning-including being mindful of OCD's due to neurodivergence and a multitude of other things that may crop up that the employer could struggle with physically, particularly during a flare up, colder weather and current injuries.

Social Duties: Will vary considerably at times. Will likely include things like shopping, socialising and access to the wider community, healthcare appointments, form filling, children's activities and similar. Being mindful that both parent and child are neurodivergent (diagnosed ADHD and undergoing autism assessments) will require additional consideration, support and prompting surrounding all of these activities.

Preference will be given to people who have experience and knowledge of extremely alternative lifestyles and parenting practices and who have a high standard of care and support skills. Preference also given to physically fit and healthy individuals who are of a younger more modern, less judgmental, mindset. the employer is non-religious, modern and progressive, nontraditional (polyamorous & not judgmental) and is very child led - with compassionate, natural consequences, natural nurturing and positivity-reinforced beliefs in parenting.

There are dogs in the household, please bear this in mind. They're both very friendly, however, phobic and allergic people wouldn't find the home suitable as a workplace.

Two positions available. Hours may involve covering the other PA's sick leave or annual leave. Could include extra hours sometimes. Needs to be flexible for times somewhat as the client’s disabilities are extremely variable. Will include weekends and evenings as well as weekdays but shift swaps between staff members are entirely possible.
