Personal Assistant (DK) - External Vacancy - B68

Job Title: 2 part-time PAs

Job Ref: VP/DK/09/23

Reporting to: Employer’s guardian

Location: Oldbury B68

Rate of Pay: £11.50

Hours of work: 21 hours per week for each PA – 2:1 Care

Nature of the job role: 
The direct payment recipient is a male in his early 20s who needs an attentive, creative, spontaneous, caring, reliable, and willing to build a comfortable relationship with him. 

The employer has seizures which can be unpredictable, on good days, he is lively, enjoys time out of wheelchair. Carer needs to make sure he’s safe, enjoys head & feet massages, watching films for a short duration of time. Carer needs the ability to be spontaneous by helping to get him ready with personal care, take him out into the community or stay at home with him interacting with him by playing music instruments, art, sitting in the garden, etc. When he has seizures, carer would need to do personal care, feeding through feeding tube.

Personal care:
Personal care as and when required. 

The employer suffers with tonic clonic seizures, sometimes when a day out is previously planned, he has a seizure, he would need the day or two to recover, depending on the type and duration of seizure. The day out would need cancelling. He enjoys days out in the community. 

As employer is nonverbal, he needs a carer who can interact with him, communicate in various ways, through reading, walks, drives out, play musical instruments, shopping in the community, days out from cafes, art, community events etc. 

Carer must be flexible with their hours due to nature of seizures. 

Skills & Experience:
Sympathetic to the needs of employer and respecting the dignity of employer
Trustworthy, responsible, reliable, patient and friendly
Good communication skills
Good timekeeping skills, flexible and reliable
Willingness to undertake essential training
Able to take responsibility for your actions

QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential
Previous experience of complex care
PEG feed & Epilepsy awareness is essential. 
Hoist trained
Full UK Driving License

Desirable
Driver with own car

Training
The successful applicants will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check and training prior to commencing employment.
