Community Engagement Officer

Title:                           Community Engagement Officer                               

Hours:                        1x 37 Hours per week 8 months fixed term contract

                                    1x 30 Hours per week 8 months fixed term contract

                                    (subject to funding and performance)

Salary:                        £19,647 – £21,615 pa (FTE – depending on Skills and  Experience)

Responsible to:         Contract and Development Manager or as advised

We are currently recruiting for 1x full time (37 hours) and 1x part time (30 hours) Community Engagement Officers to join our integrated services based in Sandwell.

We are specifically looking for someone who will be able to:

  • support disabled and disadvantaged people needs, promoting their positive independence, health and mental well-being including access to health, leisure, education and employment opportunities.
  • provide information, representation, and engagement in order that disabled people are able access and influence decision making which affects their lives, on a local and national basis. This service will also include facilitating individual’s participation in planning delivery and evaluation of services.
  • To support and facilitate community engagement, feedback and consultations around Ideal for All’s development of services, projects and activities.
  • To develop, maintain and utilise a volunteer workforce that will embody the spirit of IFA and complement the provision of resources and services that we can provide for the disabled persons.
  • To proactively arrange & facilitate in participation with disabled people a range of groups and forums that support health, well-being and independence.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working within a disability setting and supporting people of all ages and abilities.
  • High level of customer service
  • Supporting a user-led ethos/co-production skills desirable.
  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively with all people.
  • clean full driving license
  • Ability to work flexibly within a fast paced organisation and manage multiple deadlines
