Personal Assistant (NC)

Location:  Cradley Heath – Home of the employer and out and about in the community

Rate of Pay: £8.50 per hour


Nature of the job role: 


Two Personal Assistant/Support Workers required for a 58 year old man living in the Cradley Heath area of Sandwell.  The gentleman is a diabetic and has other health illnesses related to the diabetes.
Ideally the service user would like to job share the role to include duties:-

Post 1
No personal care required however prompting is necessary from time to time.
To support, assist and motivate the service user to complete household duties   
Note taking/support at meetings
Support the service user to attend appointments i.e GP/ hospital appointments.
Making sure the service user is taking medication and eating properly due to diabetes.
To assist the service user in promoting independence by supporting them in the community. 
Must be able to drive

Post 2
Must be able to drive/tow vehicles
Must be fit and healthy as possible lifting is required i.e wooden pallets.  Service user is involved in voluntary work creating garden furniture
Interested in football as you will need to assist the service user in attending home/away games for a local semi pro football club as the service user is the team physio.  Support with carrying physio equipment

Essential skills
Honesty and trust is important for the service user
Have a good sense of humour
Excellent communication skills
Be motivating and show encouragement at all times
Working in a safe way and explaining to the service user about any health and safety concerns

Personal Assistant (DG)

Job Title: Personal Assistant (PA)

Rate of Pay: £8.29 per hour

Nature of the job role: Working as part of a team. To assist with a variety of tasks which will support the employer to live an independent personal and social life.

Main Duties:

Personal duties: Washing, dressing.

Domestic duties: Washing, ironing clothes and bed linen. Keeping my rooms clean and tidy. Preparing food and drinks.

Social Duties: These duties may vary from day to day.

Also to cover holidays for 2nd PA who works Tuesday and Thursday 09.00 – 17.00

Any other reasonable duties that may be necessary.

Hours of work: 20 hrs per week

Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8.30am – 13.30. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday evenings 21.00 – 22.00

Qualifications: Up to Level 3 NVQ

Skills & Experience:

Personal Assistant (CR)

Job Title: Personal assistants

Nature of the job role: Working in a family setting, caring ventilated gentleman with complex care needs.

Main Duties: Personal Assistants work in teams of 2 covering 24/7 a week. 2 P.A's are on shift at all times due to the complexity of the client’s needs

Personal duties: The client is in his late 30's, with a spinal cord and brain injury, he is totally reliant on his team for all aspects of care.

Domestic duties: Domestic duties will be involved. Full training will be provided

Hours of work: Hours to be discussed, full and part time posts available, paying £9.40 once fully trained.

Personal Assistant (SB)

Job Title: Personal Assistant Support Worker

Nature of the job role: To be a personal assistant support worker to a boy with a learning disability who is none verbal. He is an outgoing and sociable person who enjoys the outdoors and physical activities.

Main Duties:

Personal duties: To assist with feeding and toileting

Domestic duties: None

Social Duties: To provide full assistance and support in accessing social and physical activities within the local community.

Hours of work: An average of 5 hours per week. Typically used in blocks of a minimum of two hours per session. Times and days many vary so a degree of flexibility will be required

Qualifications: BSL Level 2 Skills and car driver with use of own vehicle preferred but not essential. The successful applicant will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check which would be paid for by the local authority.

Skills & Experience: Someone who enjoys being active, who has the skills to give the necessary support with activities to promote clients independence.  You should have a genuine interest in the provision of high quality care, be able to work flexible hours and be a good communicator and also possess the motivation to develop trust and understanding within the role. Personal Assistant (CR)

Nature of the job role:  Working on a one to one basis with an older lady with mental health issues. Accompany the client when she is out in public. Travelling with the client on public transport. 

Main Duties: 

Personal duties:  Ensure that the client is dressed appropriately before leaving the house.  Encourage client to wear incontinence pads if needed.  
Prepare breakfast for the client and encourage client to eat it. 
Accompany the client on outdoor activities such as shopping and travelling. 

Social Duties: These duties may vary from day to day.

Any other reasonable duties that may be necessary.

Hours of work: 25 hrs per week
Monday to Friday 5 hours from 10:30am

Qualifications: Up to Level 3 NVQ Health & Social Care

Skills & Experience:

Only applicant's who have experience of administering medication and are able to deliver a high level of care will be considered.

Knowledge and previous experience of working with people with challenging behaviour. 

Knowledge of working with people with mental health issues. 

Must have excellent communication skills and be fluent in Punjabi language as employer does not speak English.

Personal Assistant (HK)

Nature of the job role: Has a history of arthritis and back pain. She also has a diagnosis of dementia and needs support with all daily living tasks, unsteady on feet and requires the supervision of others, at significant risk of falls.
Main language is Punjabi, cannot speak or understand very much English.

Main Duties:

Personal duties: 
Unable to manage personal care independently, needs support with toileting day and night to ensure she is clean, dry and comfortable at all times.
Needs encouragement and guidance to eat and drink with support.
Assistance of others to change her pads and monitor skin integrity

Domestic duties: Prepare meals, drinks and snacks

Social Duties: Unable to access the local community independently and requires social interaction and cognitive stimulus.

Hours of work: 
Monday, Wednesday, Friday – 1 hour per day
A)    30 minutes at 5:00pm when she returns from day centre to change her clothes and personal hygiene/toileting and give meal.
B)    30 minutes at 8.30 pm to toilet, denture care, slight clothing change, fluid intake, general check

Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday – 1½ hours per day
A) 30 minutes at lunch time to give lunch at 12:30 can be a little flexible. As long as it is the same time every day. Lunch, check clothing, Incontinence pad, and toilet, ensure she has dentures in for lunch, put into laundry basket any dirty clothes or incontinence pads in bin etc.
B) 30 minutes at 5:00pm when she returns from day centre to change her clothes and personal hygiene/toileting and give meal.
C) 30 minutes at 8.30pm to toilet, denture care, slight clothing change, fluid intake, general check.
Some change in the set times can be considered and adjusted to fit in better with carer if needs be only in communication with the main carer agreement and can be discussed further at interview

Personal Assistant (BS)

Job Title: Personal Care Assistant

Nature of the job role: Supporting a gentleman with Anaemic, Rheumatoid arthritis affecting his legs and hands both are visibly deformed and effect his dexterity and grip. Also has Osteoarthritis in both knees and struggles to lift his left knee, diagnosed with Coeliac disease

Main Duties: 

Personal duties: Assisting with personal care in a sensitive and dignified manner. Assessed by OT in October and now been provided a specialist lift to support him and requires 2 carers.

Domestic duties: 
AM 45 minutes to support with get up, wash, dress, medication, toileting and breakfast, carers are required to use specialist equipment (lift) to support him, leaving drinks/snacks for in between calls.
Lunchtime 45 minutes to support with toileting, emptying urinal bottles, pad changes and clothes if soiled, preparing lunch, medication.
PM 30 minutes to support to bed, toileting, medication, drink / snack.

Hours of work: 14 hours per week each – 2 Employees 


Qualifications: 
Manual handling qualification is a necessity

Skills & Experience:
The successful applicant must be reliable and have a sociable and caring disposition.  A flexible approach to work would be appreciated.
The successful applicant would be working in a no smoking environment.
Previous experience is required.

Client is a young girl who has cerebral palsy and multiple complex care needs and is fully dependant for all needs. She is unable to sit unaided, crawl or walk and has a specialist pushchair and home seating system.  Adult intervention and supervision is required at all times to facilitate play, feeding, changing, transfers etc. 
Client is a very happy smiley little girl who thrives on social interaction. 

Main Duties:

Initially to pick client up from school and return to the home to provide one to one support and care. (Working eventually towards client using school transport and carer to meet client at home). 

Personal duties:
Providing one to one support and care. 
Engaging with activities. 
Oral feeding. 
Changing if necessary.  

Domestic duties: 
Heating pre prepared food and preparing drinks. 

Social Duties: 
Accessing local area (park or going for a walk) after school in better weather periods. 
Accessing community in school holidays

Hours of work: 
Mon 3.15pm - 4.45pm (some flexibility for longer finish time on some Mondays)

Personal Assistant (BL)

Job Title: Female Personal Assistants / Support Workers

Nature of the job role: I am creative, animal lover who likes being outdoors and seeing friends. I also live with complex mental health needs.  I am looking for female personal assistants to support me in my own home and the community. 


Main Duties:

Personal duties: Prompting and supporting with personal care at times and helping me maintain a routine where my basic needs are met. My condition is variable

Domestic duties: Assisting me with shopping and meal planning. Light domestic tasks to help me maintain and clean and safe environment. Food preparation and cooking as well as prompting to eat and drink  

Social Duties: Accompany me on social outings, accessing local amenities and medical appointments. Accompany me to Aquafit, swimming and walking therefore active person who can swim preferred 


Hours of work: 15 hours to be shared between 2 support workers / personal assistants

Personal Assistant (AT2)

Job Title:  Personal Assistant

Rate of Pay: £9.00 per hour

Nature of the job role: To be a personal assistant support worker to who is a 10-year female who has a diagnosis of Autism, she is non-verbal, requires constant supervision and is highly dependent on adults to support her to meet her basic and personal care needs. 

Requires support with personal care and to access community resources. Personal care duties require 1 worker to support mother with the morning routine, community support will require 2 workers to take out into the community to participate in clubs and other activities that she enjoys. 

Main Duties:

Personal care duties: Monday to Friday, term time only, 1 hour in the morning to support getting dressed and washed, ready for the day. Times to be agreed with parents and are likely to between 0715 – 0815 / 0730 – 0830.

Social Duties: To support access to the community and engage in activities that she enjoys and that promote her development. This element of support will require 2 workers, days as follows and times are to be agreed with parents; 

Saturday and Sunday, 4 hours on each day on a fortnightly basis
There is an increase in hours during the School holidays only, an additional 8 hours a week, split over 2 week days, 4 hours each. 
Workers to plan with parents what activities the young person will participate in. 

Qualifications: 
Knowledge of Makaton and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)

Skills & Experience:
Someone who is friendly, patient and supportive and has experience of working with people who have Autism or severe learning disabilities is a preferred option although experience of working in the care sector is an advantage.  You should have a genuine interest in the provision of high quality care and should possess the motivation to develop trust and understanding within the role. Nature of the job role: 

Main Duties: Gentleman living in Merridale, Wolverhampton who has angina, diabetes, low blood pressure, incontinence attacks also suffers from depression

Personal duties: Need support to maintain a decent standard of living in my own home. I need support to perform household tasks such as cleaning, washing, and ironing. I also have difficulties showering and need support in this area. With simple tasks such as hoovering feeling like I am "climbing Mount Everest". If I stand up to quickly I immediately feel dizzy and uneasy on my feet, and due to this I can't do anything that requires too much movement without feeling that I will fall.

Domestic duties: Needs someone to help complete forms regarding his benefits and appointments

Social Duties: Support to help him find new interests and find things to do in the community. To assist with his shopping to ensure that his nutritional needs are met by purchasing the foods that he would like in order to eat proper meals as opposed to convenience food

Hours of work: 10 hours per week
Monday & Wednesday 3 hours each day from 1:00pm
Friday 4 hours from 1:00pm

Qualifications: 
Full UK driving license - Business insurance  
Car Driver/owner 

Skills & Experience: You should be, professional, friendly, patient and supportive.  Have a genuine interest in the provision of high quality care and should possess the motivation to develop trust and understanding within the role. Personal Assistant (AO)

Nature of the job role:
Supporting a young girl living in Parkfield area of Wolverhampton with a diagnosis of Downs Syndrome, moderate hearing loss, visual impairment and severe learning disability.

Main Duties:

Personal duties: Assistance with toileting 

Domestic duties: Not applicable

Social Duties: Taking me out to access local amenities and social activities, if possible using your own car. On occasions you may be expected to keep me company in my home. 

Hours of work: Saturday 11.00am – 3.00pm

Qualifications: An Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be required, funded by the Local Authority. Car driver preferred but not essential. Experience of working with Children with Downs Syndrome preferred but not essential.

Skills & Experience: You must be a friendly, understanding and positive person, with a good sense of humour and you must maintain strict confidentiality at all times. You should have a genuine interest in helping people on a one to one basis. An imaginative and friendly person who can suggest social outings of interest. Non-smoker preferred. Must be able to work reasonably flexible hours and be a good communicator. Previous experience of a supporting or caring role is preferred. It would be helpful if you have use of a car and a full driving license.
