Personal Assistant (VR)

Job Title: Personal Assistant

Job Ref: MH / VR / 02 / 19

Reporting to:

Location:  Bilston WV14

Rate of Pay: £9.50 per hour

Nature of the job role: To support a 40-year-old Indian male living in the Bilston who has a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder and an associated Mild Learning Disability. He also has a history of behavioural distress. Due to diagnosis of Epilepsy he has historically had general tonic clonic seizures in type.

Main Duties: Requires support with accessing the community and engaging in activities and pursuing his interests. He is supported by his family at present however due to their own health issues and commitments they are not able to provide the level of support that he requires. Currently he is not able to access the community independently and therefore requires the assistance of one other when doing so. Support with accessing the community will promote his physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. He will be able to engage in activities that are important to him and promote his confidence and potentially his independence from the family unit. Preferably a Non-Smoker.

Personal duties: 

Domestic duties: 

Social Duties: To support with accessing the community to engage in activities such as hockey, playing pool, going to the cinema, going shopping, going for walks in the local park and going to local disco's.

Hours of work: 

8 hours per week actual times to be agreed at interview

Skills & Experience:

Someone who is friendly, patient and supportive and has experience of working with people is a preferred option although experience of working in the care sector is an advantage. Preferably a Non-Smoker. You should have a genuine interest in the provision of high quality care and should possess the motivation to develop trust and understanding within the role. You should be hardworking, reliable, honest with a sense of humour and be committed to providing the best care. In return you will have the opportunity to practice your skills, keep up to date with professional development as any necessary training can be provided.

An Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be required, funded by the Local Authority. Car driver preferred but not essential
