Personal Assistant (SP)

Job Title: Personal Care Assistant

Location: Penn, Wolverhampton WV4

Rate of Pay: £9.50 per hour

Language: English Literate is essential

Must be a driver Must be flexible

Nature of the job role:  To assist a lady with muscular dystrophy who uses a wheelchair to mobilise, living in the Penn area of Wolverhampton, with personal care.  You will be working as a team.

Main Duties:
Four hour call:  Hoisting, showering, dressing, assisting with the toilet, creaming, support socks, splint shoes, hoisting into stand up chair with other carer, assist with nebuliser and cough assist, ensure shower area is cleaned, combing hair, any other duties required.

At 12.00pm – assist with feeding and medication and toileting, warming water for a drink.

One hour call as a double up – Hoisting, tidy bed, prepare lunch, take out clothes to wear, sort out stand up chair, nebuliser, breakfast, feed client, medication.

Tea call – Prepare fruit, water, medication, toileting, recliner, footmuffs, water on stand

Night call – Bedroom light on, shower chair, nightie, night cap into living room, undress and put on nightie/cap, put into shower chair (2 carers) wheel onto toilet, bring by bed, other carer to put into bed, put plaster on, cover up, massage, clean/cream face.

Skills & Experience:  Only applicants who are able to deliver a high level of care will be considered.  You must be reliable, trustworthy and show  aptitude for this type of work with a willingness to show some flexibility in the hours that you work.  Some experience of working with people with complex care needs would be preferable but not essential as training will be provided.

Hours of work:  15 hours per week
2 morning calls – 4 hours starting from 08.50 – 12.50pm
3 morning calls – 1 hour call from 08.50-09.50am
Tea call – 2.45pm – 4.15pm
Night call – 9.00pm – 10.00pm
