Personal Assistant (SK)

Job Title:  Support Worker

Job Ref: MH / SK / 01 / 19

Reporting to: Employer

Location: Compton, Wolverhampton WV3

Rate of Pay: £10.00 per hour

Nature of the job role: Supporting a middle aged gentleman living with his wife and 3 young children. Who has had an ulcer for the past 7 years and due to the poor circulation in his legs it is slowly drying up. Also unsteady with mobility, possible high risk of falls.

Main Duties:

Personal duties: 
Being around/present when employer is showering / bathing
Being around/present if support required during dressing and undressing
Assistance, encouraging employer with physical activities,

Domestic duties: 
Assistance with serving food and drinks
Preparing and cooking food, making snack
Assistance with shopping, 

Social Duties: 
Assist employer to go to places of interest, for example going to gym, dropping and picking up kids from school, attending various activity centres with them, shopping with them, accompanying me to go out with or without family/friends to functions or any event.
Assistance to attend any appointments, example GP, Hospital.
Assistance when going out for a walk, support when going in and out the car, accessing vehicle
Shopping for pleasure
Assistance with correspondence – phone calls / letter writing
Assistance with any other identified leisure activities.
Would like to attend the Temple on  a weekly basis
You may be expected to work at an alternative location – notice will be given, when possible.

Hours of work: 
6 hours per week, flexible as required, to be discussed at interview


Car-driver with valid license will be preferred

Skills & Experience:
Someone who is friendly, patient and supportive.  You should have a genuine interest in the provision of high quality care and should possess the motivation to develop trust and understanding within the role. 
You should be hardworking, reliable, honest with a sense of humour and be committed to providing the best care.
In return you will have the opportunity to practice your skills, keep up to date with professional development as any necessary training can be provided.
Be proactive and communicate any ideas that could enhance my day to day living 
Undertake any training I deem necessary or appropriate for the role

An Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be required, funded by the Local Authority.
