Job Title: Personal Care Assistant

Job Ref: RKF/ JG/Nov 2021

Reporting to: Client direct 

Location: Birmingham 

Rate of Pay: £9.65 per hour

Nature of the job role: The job revolves around helping client with their immediate needs includes getting to know clients personally and providing them with emotional support and company, which contributes positively to their wellbeing. 

Main Duties:

Personal duties: 
*  Assist client with limited personal care tasks, mainly showering and hair-washing
*  Helping with snacks/light lunch and drinks as required.
*  Encouraging attention to incontinence management and assisting in this.

Domestic duties:  Changing bedclothes and putting in washing machine as arising. *  No particular manual handling issues at the present time. Otherwise, general 
day to day care

Social Duties: 
*  Observe, monitor and record client's physical and emotional well-being, and promptly
    report any changes or issues to family members
*   Provide general companionship
*   Take and introduce to appropriate day centre type activity to widen social contact
     and return

Hours of work: 
*  These are to be arranged following discussion.  Initially approximately 0900 until 1600 each Monday, and a half day hours requirement to take to a day centre on another day.
*  Being a new requirement overall other times/days may give an arising need in future including one off evenings and other occasional days. [it is difficult to be precise about hours because it is a developing situation and hopefully someone is available who can be flexible and have some capacity for occasional needs.]

social care qualification such as a Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, Manual handling required, including administration of medication. Previous experience with working with Dementia patient is essential 

Skills & Experience:

the ability to work on your own initiative
good listening and communication skills
flexibility and time management
good interpersonal skills to work with someone on a one-to-one basis.
