Rate of Pay:
£9.25 per hour 18 hoursper week

Nature of the job role: 

Person profile: To support an elderly lady of Black Caribbean background. Living in her home in the Bradmore area of Wolverhampton.  She has limited mobility due to spinal conditions and severe arthritis to her legs and joints.  She is fully aware of her health conditions and have good understanding of her needs to detail.  She has hearing aids which is not always wore but can communicate effectively her wishes and feelings.

Personal duties: To help in and out of bed, support with incontinence, wash/shower, apply cream to skin, dress, breakfast & light lunch given and prompt to take medication.

Encourage and support to walk with walking frame from bedroom to lounge on occasions of family visiting and to watch her favourite gospel channel.
Domestic duties:
Daily making of bed and change bed  linen when required, some laundry task and ironing including keeping her surroundings clean and tidy e.g. Bedroom floor and bathroom kept clean & tidy including washing up after breakfast and lunch given.  

Specific requirement: Someone who is caring, must have good experience of caring for the elderly, committed and sensitive to West Indian culture.
With 2-3 years Personal Care in the Home environment 

*Immediate start and car owner preferable.

Hours of work: 

8.30 am for 1½ hour 
To help out of bed, personal care; help on to commode, wash /shower, dressed, making of bed, changing bed linen if appropriate, check bins.  Breakfast given and wash up.  Prompt with medication.  (Check that the personal alarm devise is in place on her person). Encourage fluid and leave snacks if desired.

2:00 pm for 30 minutes 
To help on to commode, change pad if necessary and light lunch given.  Undertake domestic task as above as and when required.

9.30 pm for 45 minutes 
Personal care, change into night wear, prepare bed for sleep, help into bed and hot drink given. check all is locked and safe

Someone who is friendly, patient and supportive.  You should have a genuine interest in the provision of high quality care and should possess the motivation to develop trust and understanding within the role. 

You should be hardworking, reliable, honest with a sense of humour and be committed to providing the best care.

An Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be required, funded by the Local Authority.
