Personal Assistant (BL)

Job Title: Female Personal Assistant / Support Worker

Rate of Pay: £8.75 per hour

Nature of the job role:
Supporting a young lady who is creative, an animal lover who likes being outdoors and seeing friends. I also live with complex mental health needs.  I am looking for a female personal assistant to support me in my own home and the community. 

Main Duties:

Personal duties: Prompting and supporting with personal care at times and helping me maintain a routine where my basic needs are met. My condition is variable

Domestic duties: Food preparation and cooking as well as prompting to eat and drink  

Social Duties: Accompany her on social outings, accessing local amenities and medical appointments. Assisting her with shopping and meal planning. Light domestic tasks to help me maintain and clean and safe environment 
Accompany me to Aquafit, swimming and walking therefore active person who can swim preferred 


Hours of work:
6 hours per week initially; more hours may be available
Times / days you may be required to work; 
Monday: 10.30am - 1.30pm
Saturday: 8.00am -11.00am

Qualifications: 
You should hold a valid full driving licence, current insurance and have access to a vehicle at all times. Mileage will be paid by employer. 
Experience of providing person centered care essential. Some experience of working with people with complex mental health needs preferable but not essential. 


Skills & Experience:
The successful applicants will have a flexible attitude to work as I require changes in hours worked to enable me to attend events, see friends further afield, or medical appointments (advance notice will be given)  You must be reliable, honest and be able to stay calm in a crisis. You must be prepared to provide person centered care supporting me how I wish to be supported. Successful candidates will have a good awareness of how mental health conditions can affect people day to day and feel confident about learning about how my condition affects my life and how you can best support me to live life to the full. Please note I try to live life without diagnoses and focus on solutions and coping strategies rather the problems and limitations on achievement. 

You will be working in a non-smoking household, there will be a friendly cat present. 
This post will include 5.6 weeks paid annual leave (pro-rata) 
It will be necessary to complete a DBS for this post (cost met)
