Employment and Skills Officer

Title:                           Employment and Skills Development Officer

 Hours:                        37 Hours per week - fixed term contract till March 2023

 Salary:                        £19,647.00 to £21,615 (FTE) per annum – depending on skills and experience

 Responsible to:         Employment and Skills Manager or as advised 

  • Can you demonstrate excellent employment support skills?
  • Do you have a proven track record in supporting disabled or marginalised people into employment?
  • Do you have experience of recording case work on digital and hard copy files to evidence participant journey of change?
  • Are you organised and able to process information accurately and efficiently?

 If so, we would welcome your application. We are looking for a full time enthusiastic hard working and highly motivated Employment and Skills development Officer to join our team.

The ideal candidate is likely to have relevant experience of supporting employability contracts and experience of working with disabled people or those furthest from the jobs market into employment by improving skills and confidence and through brokerage with employers.

Key responsibility and tasks:

  • Supporting participants to develop CVs, job applications, job searches, interview skills; aiming to support individuals to move into paid employment.
  • This role provides an opportunity to actively influence and support employers in the local community to change their attitudes towards employing disabled people or those with a health condition, and work with them to build a better understanding of disability and being Disability Confident.
  • Applicants will need excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills and be able to manage a range of tasks in outreach locations within Sandwell and in the local community.
