What is the Social Events Group?

This service came about through pressure from members, who because of the demise of the Local Authority Day Care centres, missed the social interaction and friendships they had there. They felt Ideal for All could fill a gap, and after consultation and discussions, the Trustees agreed to give it a chance.

A committee was formed and various social activities started to be organised. We have been in existence now for about three years.

Unlike other services at Ideal for All, this service is run completely by volunteers!

What does the Social Events Group offer?

It offers Day trips and, once a year, a short holiday, to our members. We also hold monthly "Drop - In" sessions where you can come along and meet and make new friends, perhaps join in a game of "prize" bingo. All prizes are donated by our members. We also use the "drop in" evenings for collecting payments for the various outings, etc.

We use fully accessible transport for all our day trips. However, we do not offer transport to the "Drop-in" evenings at present. However, some of our members use the "Ring and Ride" service. For further details about the "Ring and Ride" service and location of our drop in evenings, please call the Information Desk at the Independent Living Centre.

A quarterly newsletter has, in the past, been circulated to our members. It gives details of forthcoming events and is accompanied by a booking form.
