Ideal for All scooped a prestigious national award once again for its outstanding commitment to promoting engagement of people that matters and result in promoting health and wellbeing of people who use our services.  At the Home & Communities Academy Awards 2009 ceremony held in London last night Ideal for All was awarded a Highly Commended award for its excellent partnership between Ideal For All, Sandwell Primary Care Trust and local people.

A total of 37 finalists and over 500 delegates attended the awards ceremony. This awards scheme has been running since 2003, formerly as the Deputy Prime Minister’s Award for Sustainable Communities and latterly the Creating the Future Awards. It identifies and celebrates projects that have combined innovation and dedication to improving communities, showcasing the very best housing, environmental and regeneration schemes. This year’s awards have attracted more than 160 entries from across the country and Ideal for All feel both honoured and privileged to have gained a Highly Commended Award.

Ideal for All are a unique organisation whose ethos is to empower and enable people with disabilities to live as independently as possible, giving them the confidence and skills to contribute in society and influence local policy makers.

Ideal for All provides a local voice and inspiration for what people can achieve when given the appropriate support and opportunities, therefore we are committed to placing power and opportunity in the hands of our members and service users.

Our community agricultural initiative is unique; the only one of its kind in the UK, representing a productive partnership between local people and their organisations. We are proud to have assisted members of the community; both disabled and non-disabled, with the opportunity to make real decisions about every aspect of our project and services.

We have come a long way since we were founded 1996, and thirteen years on, we have played an integral role in influencing the processes of positive changes in Sandwell and striving for equal opportunities for people with disabilities.

We are grateful to our supporters, members, service users and partnerships for enabling us to continue strengthening and developing our services; and we hope that with their continued support we can continue to improve.
