Independent Living Service in Sandwell is now closed.

09-Mar-2017
It is with sadness that we have to report that our Independent Living Service contracted provision with Sandwell Council came to an end on 31st March 2017.

Ideal for All would like to thank everyone that has used the service and been involved in its development over the past 20 years.

We are no longer providing the following services:
  • Information point at the Independent Living Centre, Oldbury Road, Smethwick
  • Occupational therapy service
  • Drop-in Duty Service (assessment and low level mobility aids)
  • Engagement services with and for disabled people in Sandwell

We continue to support young disabled people to access peer support and independent living including access to our weekly ‘All Together Different Youth Group’ activities via a
grant agreement with Sandwell Council

Carol Goff, Chair of Ideal for All, said:

“Since 2013 we have seen major changes to local services as part of UK wide austerity measures. We understand that it is a very difficult financial time for the Council with the national cuts to social care but we are very concerned that the cuts are hitting the most vulnerable.

“Although we now have a reduced presence at the Independent Living Centre and our ability to provide these services has been impacted, Ideal for All is working hard to develop sustainable ways to continue support for disabled people in Sandwell.”
