Job Title: Personal Assistant

Job Ref: JI/SH/06/22

Reporting to: Employer

Location: Burton-on-Trent

Rate of Pay: £11.00ph

Nature of the job role: Working with me to assist and promote my independence using a relationship-based approach. This will include a variety of tasks, such as support to maintain my home environment, support to increase my skills and motivation to complete activities of daily living and begin to increase my confidence to access the local community.

Main Duties:

Personal duties: Prompting and encouraging me to manage my personal care needs independently (washing, changing clothes). Encouraging me to eat regularly and to make healthy eating choices.

Domestic duties: Encouraging and supporting me to complete activities of daily living; this will include supporting me to prepare and cook meals, laundry, organise and sort my clothing and clean and maintain my home. Providing hands-on help with tasks I find particularly challenging such as emptying the hoover or taking out bins. Support to find and arrange services such as garden maintenance. Support with paperwork and booking appointments as needed. 

Social Duties: Supporting me to begin to access and increase my confidence to access the local community including shopping, going for regular walks and accessing my GP and dentist when needed. 

Any other reasonable duties that may be necessary.

Hours of work: Up to 14 hours per week which may be split between two workers. Ideally 3 morning visits of 2 hours per week, with the rest of the hours used flexibly for afternoon social/community activities.  

Qualifications: 

Skills & Experience:
Skilled in interpersonal work with individuals experiencing a lack of motivation and/or severe anxiety. Knowledge or experience of working with autism and able to respond to and help me best manage anxiety when out and about. 

The ideal person likes adventure and the outdoors and can encourage and support me to do the activities I love such as walking, running, attending the gym and returning to bike riding. 

The applicant needs to be a car driver with the use of own vehicle to support with attending appointments.
